• Prime minister Narendra Modi jas transferred the amount of 11th installment of kisan samman nidhi in the account of farmers during a programme in shimla on 31st May.

 

• During this, PM modi also interacted wirh the benificiary farmers. 

• On 31st May 2022 more than 10 crore beneficiary farmers families have been transferred samman nidhi amount of more than ₹21,000 crore to theie bank accounts through DBT. He started this event by saying BHARAT MATA KI JAI. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed , GOVERNOR OF HIMACHAL PRADESH SH, RAJENDRA VISHWANATH ARELKAR JI, and the CHIEF MINISTER OF HIMACHAL PRADESH JAI RAM THAKUR JI and thanked them to invite him on this auspicious day.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transferred the amount of PM kisan samman Nidhi in the account of farmers during the “GARIB KALAYAN SAMMELAN PROGRAM “ organized in SHIMLA. 

• During this programme, chief Minster, union Minister, Minister of state, Member of Parliament, Member of legislative Assembly and other elected public representatives interacted directly with the public at their respective places across the country. 

What is PM. Kisan Sammelan Nidhi ?

• Various schemes are run by the government to help the farmers acriss the country financially. 

• PM. Kisan samman nidhi is one such scheme under which ₹6000 is given to the farmers every year by the government ₹2000 farmers account at an interval of every 4 months for whom the farmers of the country were waiting for the 11th of this scheme for a lonf time finally, this wait ended on 31st May 2022. 

HISTORY

• The scheme was launched in the the rabi season of 2018.

 

• At that time the government had implemented an advance budget of ₹20,000 crore for this.

 

• The annual expenditure on the scheme was estimated at ₹75,000 crore. 

• Under this scheme the amount of 6000 every year to the farmers of the country is directly transformed in three installment to the account of the eligible farmers. 

• Under this scheme small and marginal farmers who have less than 2 hectares of land (4.9 acres), were provided financial assistance. 

• But under the 31st May 2019 scheme all the farmers of the country arw getting assistance of ₹6000 every year annual as minimum income.

Application for PM. Kisan samman Nidhi yojana

• You can apply in two ways. 

• The first way is the common service center.

• The second way farmers can see themselves by visiting the official website of PM. Kisan samman Nidhi yojana. 

o Financial Benefits:

Financial benefit of Rs 6000/- per year in three equal installments, every four month is transferred into the bank accounts of farmers’ families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

FEATURES OF PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJANA

Post Office Monthly Income Scheme

• The primary feature of this yojana is the minimum income support it provides to farmers. Each eligible farmer family is entitled to receive Rs 6000 per annum across INDIA. 

• PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJANA is an INDIAN GOVERNMENT SPONSORED FARMER SUPPORT SCHEME. Therefore, the entire of its funding comes from the GOVERNMENT OF INDIA.

• While the responsibility of funding lies with the GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, the identification of beneficiaries is not under the purview. Instead, it’s the responsibility of STATE AND UNION TERRITORY Governments.

• These governments shall identify which farmer families will get benefit from this scheme.

One of the most crucial features of this governmental scheme is its eligibility criteria. Farmer’s families that qualify these criteria can benefit from this yojana:

• Small and marginal farmers are eligible for this yojana. 

• Farmer families that hold cultivable land can apply for this yojana. 

• A beneficiary should be an INDIAN.

Alongside, these farmers from both urban and rural regions can be enlisted under the PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJANA.

Not all farmers can be enlisted under PM KISAN YOJANA. These categories of people have been mentioned below:

• Any institutional landholder is ineligible for this yojana

. 

• Individuals who hold or have held a constitutional post

.

• Individuals who served as an officer or employee in any government ministry, department, or office. 

• Regular employees of local governmental bodies. 

• Present and former member of LOK SABHA and RAJYA SABHA. 

• Any present or former chairperson of DISTRICT PANCHAYAT.

• Present and former Mayor of any MUNICIPAL CORPORATION. 

• Families with professionals like a doctor, engineers, CA, lawyers, and architects who are professionally involved in respective fields are also ineligible for this yojana.

The PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJANA aims to supplement the financial needs of the SMFs in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle.

This year the 11th instalment is delayed as per last year. Farmers received the APRIL -JULY instalment in their accounts on may 15.

Scope of the Scheme:

o The scheme was initially.meant for Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) having landholding upto 2 hectares but scope of the scheme was extended to cover all landholding farmers

Funding and Implementation

o It is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India. 

o It is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

• Objectives: 

o To supplement the financial needs of the Small and Marginal Farmers in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle. 

o To protect them from falling in the clutches of moneylenders for meeting such expenses and ensure their continuance in the farming activities.

• PM-KISAN Mobile App: It was developed and designed by the National Informatics Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. 

• Physical Verification Module: A mandatory physical verification of 5% beneficiary every year is being done as per the provisions laid down in the scheme
